Adrian Liu, a sophomore at Dehesa Charter School, began
playing piano at the age of five and currently studies with
Mrs. Inessa Litvin. Adrian was the 2011 winner of the San Diego
Symphony’s Young Artist Competition and debuted as a soloist
with the San Diego Symphony in May, 2012. He has won numerous
awards at the Music Teachers’ Association of California’s Concerto,
Sonata, and VOCE (Voice, String and Chamber music) competitions,
and at the Southern California Bach Festival.
Adrian has been invited to participate in master classes with
pianists Menahem Pressler, Awadagin Pratt, James Giles, Steward
Gordon and Wu Han. In 2013, Adrian was featured as the soloist
at the Inaugural Concert for the La Jolla Athenaeum’s Young
Prodigy Series. He most recently won the gold medal in his age
division at the American Association for the Development of
the Gifted and Talented (AADGT) Passion of Music Festival, and
performed at the winner’s recital in Carnegie Hall.
In addition to piano, Adrian also studies violin and chamber
music with Mr. and Mrs. Tseitlin. His piano trio won 1st place
at the VOCE Competition and in the High School Division at the
statewide California Chamber Music Competition in 2013. This
year, the trio won 1st place at the American Protégé’s International
Piano and Strings Competition and will be featured in the winner’s
concert at Carnegie Hall.
